About I-NO-RI Art
Greetings from NICE+DAY
I’d like to tell you a little bit about our company, NICE+DAY Inc. and a project started in 2023 called I・NO・RI. Art.
One of the roles of our company is to use our experience in video production and its overseas expansion to spread the recognition of Japanese artists and traditional craftsmen to the world through our website and videos I・NO・RI . Art introduces ‘people’ rather than 'things' called ‘art’ to overseas audiences.
What is “I・NO・RI”
So, you’re probably wondering what “I・NO・RI” is.
“I・NO・RI” is “Inori (祈り)”. So first let’s talk about Inori.
"Inori" is the act of offering gratitude to all living things.
It is the Japanese word for prayer.
Such as in the universal custom of saying grace before every meal, this could be a form of Inori. Grace is words that one person says before a meal thanking God for the food we are about to eat.
"Inori" has an etymology, but each person is free to interpret it as they wish.
In our country, Japan, there is a custom of saying 'Itadakimasu' before eating.
This is an inori that expresses respect for the lives of animals, fish, and vegetables, as well as for those who are involved in the preparation effort before a meal reaches the dining table.
The chopsticks placed at the front of the meal serve as a boundary between offering life and receiving it.
On this site, we introduce Inori Art or works that artists have created with great care. These art works remind us to say a prayer for example at the entrance to your house the work reminds you to be thankful for your home or near a plant that you have indoors or a photo of an ancestor or pet. Not only does Inori art serve as reminders but also, they look attractive as decorate pieces in the home.
Please note that our company is not affiliated with spiritual or religious organizations. Simply visiting us is an honor.
We would be even happier if you could leave a comment on the works. For inquiries regarding usage, size, or materials, please contact us here.
