Marunano Kokeshi

Profile

"Maruna no Kokeshi" is a doll created by two people. Nami Noguchi(left) who handles face and Noriko Yukawa(right) who handles body and costume. Kokeshi is made of paper clay and is hand made one by one. It is a one-of-a-kind item. Material for the doll's clothing is mainly made from remnants of used clothing worn by national tribes of the hills in Thailand or othr countries in Asia. At times material is made from old kimono or textile designers integrate kimono to create original textiles. We create Kokeshi in conjunction with seasonal events or exhbition themes. The current (upcoming) exhibition theme is "prayer"
